HLTINF005 Maintain infection prevention for skin penetration treatments is a nationally recognised unit of competency that can be completed online and is delivered by Artisan Training Academy RTO-46085.

This competency is required for all professionals that intend to do skin penetration treatments such as cosmetic tattooing, body tattooing, body piercing and invasive skin treatments such as skin needling and cosmetic injectables.  HLTINF005 is required by most local councils for the Higher Risk Personal Appearances License. 

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to maintain infection prevention during skin penetration treatments and to review clinic compliance with the applicable state or territory and local council requirements. 

It requires the ability to identify, manage and control infection risks to clients, self and work colleagues.

This unit applies to individuals who make independent treatment decisions. 

Learners

Participants for this course may already be working in the beauty, piercing, tattooing or health industries and require an accredited infection control certification, or may be wanting to enter these industries for further study.
